Augmented Reality
For our project in Instructional Technologies, I tried to create Augmented Reality experience using mobile application HP Reveal. I presented cow at a level of third graders.
Augmented Reality (AR) is what makes you able to develop your own world instead of going through another world. We experienced AR in our class with our teacher through HP Reveal. It is an application that shows you how to do AR. You simply take a photograph and attach a gif, video, picture or even 3D object on the photograph. Then you save it. After that, when you scan the photograph, you see the video you have attached on the photograph.
For AR to be used, we need glasses like you see in the picture or... phones. As a teacher candidate, I don't think children should be involved in technology too much and for this, I think AR is really very opposite to my beliefs. But for high schoolers, AR can be useful in terms of providing motivation. For example, extracting 3D objects and seeing them moving can make a different activity in the class bur except this, I don't think AR is really needed. What would seeing texts in 3D format provide? I don't think it would be useful but only fun and that is maybe. And for now, I think our technology is not enough to provide schoolers with this kind of thing. At least for now...
